Lana Taylor, co-founder and marketing director of Three Birds describes the genesis of the business as ‘we’re three mates and Mums, who started out as property flippers but have since evolved our business to focus on inspiring and empowering other women to design, renovate and style their dream homes.’ Boasting over 390,000 Instagram followers, and 90,000 youtube followers, it’s safe to say this dynamic trio have found an impressive audience for their renovation antics… and the Three Birds workspace in Sydney is where all the ideas happen!
‘First and foremost, our office needed to be a beautiful space to work in’ Lana highlights. This goal, coupled with a passion for getting the details ‘just right’ is clear in the resulting workspace, which has been heavily inspired by Byron Bay based artist Jai Vasicek – whose distinctive artwork also features in the space. Another key reference point has been the work of Grace Garrett, who created custom designed cushions and wallpaper for the space. The trio also used Intrim timber mouldings to create panels on the walls, to add texture and character, and ‘make the space feel like the inside of a home.’
Three Bird’s collaborative way of working requires large communal spaces, so their HQ is designed for group work, with lots of space for rolling out floor plans and comparing samples… and plenty of room for the team to work together. Lana describes the space as ‘warm, friendly, and collaborative’, and especially enthuses about the custom designed, blush pink kitchen… ‘because the last one was so damn ugly!’
While the space is sparkling and carefully curated, Lana highlights that it is also hardworking, functional workspace. She reveals ‘it is hard to keep it neat and tidy with all of the deliveries we receive of furniture and homewares.’ But even with boxes stacked in the corner, this is one workspace designed to inspire!
